Good habits can determine the success of our public speaking, business communications, and careers. Habits are a part of us, built up like the layers of a pearl from our own juices. They can either provide a lustrous shield against adversity – or an imprisoning shell of our own making. They can play a significant role in determining our ultimate success and happiness. What new habits do you want to acquire? What old habits do you want to change? My brother, the legendary guitarist Robert Fripp says, “Small additional increments are transformational.”

Consider your habits. Ask yourself:
- Which of my current habits help me?
- Which habits don’t help me?
- What new habits do I want to acquire?
- Which habits will I get rid of?
You can continue doing comfortable things that don’t work, or you can improve by learning and developing better habits.

What people say about Robert Fripp’s spoken word:
“Robert Fripp’s presentation was as insightful as it was sensationally delivered. Our opening general sessions of 1,200 audience members were enraptured by the fascinating stories of his most amazing career in the music industry. Many of our APA members have long admired King Crimson and Fripp’s prowess as one of the best guitarists of all time.
However, it didn’t matter that he’s a famous musician. The wisdom he shared has direct parallels to every aspect of life and growth potential. His humble eloquence makes his wisdom so easy for everyone to get value. His grip on the audience was as tight as his hold on his guitar pick!”

For me, awareness is the key. Until they are pointed out, habits are often hard to spot. This is the value of good coaching–I catch myself about to say ‘thing’ (or, heaven forbid, ‘stuff’) and substitute a more specific alternative.
Glad I am constantly in your head when you are coaching your clients as well. Spread all the lessons you learned from our coaching camps. When added to the wisdom for your successful career you have an unbeatable combination. Plus you are very funny. Best, Fripp
