Public Speaking: How would you open a speech on Simplicity?

One of the benefits of membership in World Champion’s Edge the public speaking community founded by Darren LaCroix, 2001 Toastmasters International World Champion of Public Speaking…is the Edge Forum where the members ask questions of each other, and the faculty, I am the World Champion’s Plus One as I do not share their title!

One of our members wanted help with opening a speech on Simplicity.  This is my answer. (He benefited from many others) The … means pause.

Patricia Fripp recommendation for opening for your Simplicity speech:

Walk out and smile…make eye contact…hold it for 10 seconds… move forward a few steps…hold it and smile…make eye contact for 5 seconds. Ask “Why is our world so complex? How do you think the quality of our existence would improve if we just added….more magical moments of…simplicity?  In my opinion…it would be simplify marvelous.”

Darren La Croix and I are delivering a one day speaking school and two day coaching camp in Las Vegas October 1-3. Check in out.
