Here is your public speaking lesson for the day… Edit your speech to a nub.
Edit out the words that have no meaning. For example, if you say, “Each and every one of you in this room…” you are using nine words when you should just use one. Just say, “You.”
Although it is sometimes appropriate to address the audience as a whole, in general you want the each member of the audience to feel, “The speaker is talking to me.”
Speak in shorter sentences. Then edit for clarity, specificity, and emotional connection. Focus on your key messages and your audience. As you review your presentation ask yourself, “So what? Who cares? What’s in it for me?” After all, this is exactly what your audience is thinking!
If you want to become a great speaker easily, conveniently, and quickly, Fripp Virtual Training can help.
