Speaking and Presentation Skills Workshop: What people are saying about Fripp's Speaking School.... (Page 2 of 2)

The presentation skills class with Patricia Fripp was the BEST! She was wonderful, and gave us very useful techniques and encouraged great audience participation. Much was gained from her style, content, and energy. Thank you so much for bringing her in."
—Sherry K. Basile, PhD, Director, Educational Services, Hendricks Regional Health

"You were absolutely incredible and so gifted. You really know your craft, and seasoned speakers were in awe! Your seminar was very, very professional and your handouts were excellent, very useful, and hugely informative. The people attending were so nice and friendly that I did not want to go back to the UK!

For years I have heard many wonderful stories about your amazing expertise and skills. Now I have seen you in action and know that no one exaggerated. Your personal energy, passion for what you do, and indeed YOU are awe-inspiring, amazing, outstanding--I could go on and on, yet there are no words in the English dictionary to do you justice."
—Craig Santini, Santini International, UK

"You are amazing! I learned so much, not the least of which was how to have more confidence in myself. I am looking forward to establishing a name for myself in the business world. Maybe next year we can work one-on-one on my speaking skills. I had such a good time and came away with an abundance of invaluable information. Thank you so much for your contribution that you give most graciously to this world."
—Lauren Cabral

"Patricia, you have given me new insights, helping me recognize the passion I have for trees, for my company, and for my career. The excitement I have for what I do makes selling tree care fun. How lucky can I be to have a fun career that so many others are interested in hearing about? I don't know when, but I had lost or forgotten this passion. Thanks for relighting the flame."
—David Baker

"Boffo job! Your presentation to the Minnesota Speakers Association was dynamite. Powerful and on point.

As a long-time Professor of Speech and a student of Listening, it is always impressive and fun to watch speakers who impact audiences positively. Great job...well done. You helped a large number of speakers grow as professionals."
—Manny Steil

"I have heard so many great comments since your program for the NSA Indiana Chapter. You made a tremendious impact on all you came in contact. The profound lessons will linger for a long time. I have already changed several of my CD's to start out with a "bang", just like your Hollywood model. I wanted to send my deep gratitude for giving so much of yourself and your talents to help America's greatest NSA Chapter."
—Dan Surface, President, Indiana NSA

"I learned more practical speaking advice in your 2-day speaking seminar than in any seminar I have ever attended! I can already see how your simple 'Fripp' method of developing a presentation will save me time and make my presentations more entertaining. I have TONS of stories but rarely use them. I have already left a voicemail for the Regional Manager for the San Francisco Bay Club highly recommending you for training our employees. Thanks again."
Mitzi Dulan, RD, Sports Nutrition and Fitness Consultant, Bay Club

"Thank you for your time, energy, insights, and vast experience. I have been speaking for twenty years and learning from you was a time of review, renew, and affirmation of my commitment to be the best speaker out there - with one exception! You have a natural gift for teaching."
—Norma Wimberly

"Thank you profusely for the awesome program you gave to NSA Tennessee. I've heard so much about you but have never had the opportunity to hear you speak.

After your coaching I realized that, 'There went a 9 minute story' and I'll have to totally re-work my keynote. After considering your advice I feel much more confident and relaxed about the whole thing! You suggested something I knew but seldom do: go for a walk and start talking your speech and record yourself. I did this and the information flowed! I'm going to use this technique from now on.

Keynoting is new to me. I've been a technical trainer for 3 years teaching Adobe Photoshop and web design. Your ideas and insights have helped me tremendously.

Thank you SOOOOO much for your awesomeness!!! I'm now a huge fan."
—David Humes, President-Elect NSA Tennessee

"I have been an FSA and NSA member for many years, and your program was by far the most worthwhile session I listened to. You are truly an inspiration for us all." —Ricardo R. Fernandez, PE, CPM

"It was a delight to be a part of your audience yesterday at the FSA meeting. You certainly are a master of putting great material in an organized structure with magnificent delivery. You were impressive to watch. Without PowerPoint and fancy videos, you delivered your information so well on a basic flipchart. Thank you again for sharing such wonderful ideas ... delivering what you promised!"
—Dr. Sally Goldberg

"ROI - I drove 542 miles to spend a day with Fripp. It was worth every mile and every penny I invested. Great content, energy and value. If you have been speaking professionally for over twenty years as I have, or are an ambitious novice, an investment of time with Patricia Fripp will offer big payoffs.
—Frank J. Candy, MBA, PGA, CPC

"I attended the Fripp Speaking School in Sydney. I really appreciated the richness of experience, style, possibility I got from the diversity of experience, style and possibility that comes from a professional outside of Australia.

Fripp, you have probably received appreciation, accolades and acknowledgment from so many people. I think it is because the impact is so great when you shared your skills and knowledge from the stage. What an inspiring start it is for me. As a result I am underway with my speaking career.'
—Inta Sellick, Principal of Integrated Learning and Development,
Coach, Facilitator, Speaker, Trainer

"Your speaking school was such a treat! After watching you and attending your classes for years I still learn so much new. I liked your notion of sound bites and rhythm in a speech. I've joined my church choir and the director emphasizes the same thing when we sing, how to accent phrases to sound a certain way, from 'bright' to 'war' to 'brassy' to 'crisp' to 'hushed but intense!' You have such a talent for bringing the creative and feeling side to words and sentences in a talk. I like to try out your ideas and suggestions when I teach in the classroom. Thank you again for the inspiration and opportunity to be with you and learn from you and to experience the Fripp magic again first hand!"
—Vicki Wynne

"Thank you so much for the wonderful four days. Before the seminar I was wondering how you would find enough material to fill four days. Not to worry! You gave us an intense, information-packed and highly-energetic course, filled with real-life examples.

I was amazed at your unflagging energy and your personal interest in each of us. I loved the way you came early, stayed late and hung around during breaks. I used to want to escape from the crowd. Now, after watching you, I will be deeply involved from start to finish.

Your coaching on my opening lines was profound. Your coaching helped me not only with my opening; I will use the same principles throughout my entire speech. Pause, pause, pause. Cut out unnecessary words. Don't prance around so much. Finish each sentence on a key word. Stand still when making a profound point. Pause, pause, pause. Tell personal stories. Don't tell jokes. Pause, pause, pause.

I put 'advanced' on my questionnaire, because I have been speaking all my life and thought I was pretty darn good. In retrospect, I should have put 'intermediate' because you have shown me a whole new level of performance.

Thanks again, Patricia, for your passion, your enthusiasm, your knowledge."
—Steve Savage, Savage International

"Helping you at the January NSA-CF Meeting was such a delight. Thank you so much for the opportunity. You have helped me to raise my standard as a speaker and to think differently about my own stories. The materials you gave me have helped me tremendously so far. For example, 'Success Secrets of the Motivational Superstars' has changed my life. Every time I feel a little depressed or discouraged, I reread your story or the stories about Tony Robbins or Les Brown, etc., until I regain my strength. My speeches will never be the same, thanks to the template that you gave me."
—Guerline Ridore, MS

"I always had a morbid fear of public speaking, but you've given me the courage to address small groups and hold mini-conferences in the [show] booth without fear. Do you know what this means to my career? It was huge, and your talent is huge."
—Deirdre A. Junta, Director, Corporate Sales, Kemper

"I so enjoyed meeting you at our Windy City Summit treasury management conference this past week and especially enjoyed the session on business presentations. You gave me so many useful ideas and suggestions for improvement and I can't wait to try them out. I don't think I will ever listen to a presentation in the same way again."
—Norine Tempelman

"Your NSA-NC Speakers Academy was outstanding, excellent, and extremely helpful. I can only imagine the amount of time, energy, focus and stamina you put into the 5+ hours you gave us."
—Stephanie Reilly

"We thank you for a hugely successful chapter meeting and afternoon coaching. Your visit will be remembered fondly well into the future as the most successful. We are sincerely grateful for your expertise and willingness to share it with our chapter."

"Thank you so much for your two presentations on Saturday at Speaker's University. You were fantastically entertaining in the morning and a great model as a wonderful speaker. I loved your dramatic pauses, your use of your body, voice, etc. You were fantastic. The afternoon coaching was amazing. "Thank you very much for taking the time and energy to crisscross the country to share your ideas with the members and guests of the Florida Speakers Association yesterday. Your gracious efforts are very much appreciated. Your presentation not only impacted our members but convinced many of the first-time guests to join our chapter.

Keepers that caught my attention that may be included in our next newsletter especially to benefit those who could not attend your presentation:

1. 1st 30 Seconds is crucial for your speech.

2. Nervous about speaking to large groups: We are rarely nervous about speaking one-on-one but only to groups; and so get to meet as many audience members as possible in advance of your presentation. You will already have established a connection with them.

3. Establishing importance of rating system with audience prior to giving your talk. 'Does anyone have a philosophical or religious reason for not rating this session excellent?' 'If I promise to give you an excellent session and give you one, will you rate it as excellent?' 'Bring her back and pay her double!'

4. Two ways to connect with your audience:
   a. Intellectually-use your content to connect.
   b. Emotionally-eye contact for more than one-second; personalized stories and I-You ratio with mostly you so that you get the audience emotionally involved in your presentation.

5. Three parts of speech.
   a. Structure-organization: organize so that your audience can remember your main points. You have to know your material so well that you can almost forget it.
   b. Material-what you actually say
   c. Delivery-how you say it.

6. What is it with your speech that will give 5 moments?

7. Have a written copy of your speech for those people who could not be at your presentation.

8. Memorize your opening and closing to be most effective.

9. Don't close with Q&A session because it may end on a negative questions/comment.

10. Do not be the hero of your stories!

11. It is not your prospect's responsibility to remember you and your name, you must do everything possible to make it easier for them to remember your name so that they may refer and rehire you at a much later date.

12. $50,000-Speaker: 'We could not afford to bring him in but let me tell you what he would have said.'

13. The enemy of the speaker is sameness.

14. Stories will be more interesting and alive if dialogue is used rather than he said or she said.

15. Prepare your audience for the close. "Let me close by."

16. ACT on good ideas or they are wasted.

17. Try to tie in your closing so that there is a connection with your opening.

"Thank you for your exquisite, theatrical, amazing presentation, filled with lots of specific examples that everyone could relate to and remember with ease. I personally appreciated the work you did with Tony, the gentleman from United Airlines. Your ideas on how to approach the absurdity of this complex situation--'I was most surprised about'--really work for my talk, 'Its About Choice: Solving the Healthcare Cost Dilemma.'

"As always, your workshop is one of the highlights of NSA's offerings, and, as usual, many attendees commented that the session was too short. Even after 5 1/2 hours, they were begging for more."
—Nan Andrews Amish, National Speakers Association, Northern California

"After attending your workshop in Sydney on 27th March, my colleague Melinda and I were asked to give a training session to all the staff in our Head Office. Our seminar received very positive feedback. We taught them you techniques we learned from you. After a series of State conferences we received the following comments by our Head Office staff:

* National Franchise Manager's presentation left the audience feeling very positive and inspired

* Affinity Partner Co-ordinator came across very confidently and had many comments that she had made a difficult and confusing subject very clear and easy to understand

* Marketing Manager's presentation wasn't as powerpoint crazy as usual

* E-Commerce Project Manager's (me) presentation was interesting and fun, yet informative

I even had the MC from our International Conference come up and tell me it was the best speech he's heard in a long time, and my Senior Management team told me "I nailed it and am a star"
So, THANK YOU.....without your seminar this would not have been possible! I have also been offered a promotion that takes me interstate to manage a team of 20!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the inspiration you have given me. I look forward to attending the seminars in December."
—Claire Chapman, E-Commerce Project Manager, Harvey World Travel

"What an incredible display of "How to's" you shared with our chapter members and guests. Even after 22 years in NSA, I took away countless gems from the wisdom of your words and experience. We can always depend upon your presentation filling the room. You hit a home run."
—Billy Arcement

"You are the reason God made standing ovations! Thanks for all the gret advice at the NSA St. Louis meeting."
—Lisa J. Davis, Educator, Freelance Writer, Speaker, Life is Worth Living

"I'll never ever be able to create another opening, tell a story, or leave my audience with a dramatic closing without asking 'How would Fripp do it?' Patricia Fripp has transformed my business by showing me how to turn good speaking material into words and ideas my audiences will never forget!"
—Ed Peters, 4Profit Institute Speaker, Consultant, Author

"THANK YOU!! We had a ball. Thanks for giving me the dramatic opening. I ended with my opening line...'You have an AWESOME responsibility.' You are a great gift to us. I am glad you said 'yes' to your calling, too."
—Eileen Spotts

"I'm still digesting the terrific information from the Speaker's School. I was able to use so much of that information IMMEDIATELY. I used to stand up at seminars and say, 'I'm Karen Bonner and I'm a therapist in blah, blah and I'm going to talk to you about blah, blah....' However, after Speaker's School, I stood up at my next seminar, looked each participant in the eye, and said, 'Today you will learn how to tap into your own limitless source of creativity, know yourself better, and deepen your spiritual life by working with your dreams.' Zingo! It was a successful seminar, and the church that invited me (and paid me!) has asked me back."
—Karen Mori Bonner, President, Bonner Speaking and Consulting

"Thank you so much for sharing your incredible wisdom and ideas with me. I'm on fire with writing new stories and rewriting some old ones. You really sparked some great moments in my childhood that I hadn't thought about in a long time. WOW!"
—David Greenman, Business and Personal Development Coach

"Fabulous! Absolutely beyond words! Your programs today were amongst the most exciting, inspiring and content-rich that NSA-OK has ever had the joy of experiencing! Thank you for your graciousness. I am amazed at your skill teaching how to deliver a keynote or seminar Hollywood Style!"
—Kristine A. Sexter, Senior Partner, Wise Works Productions

"I really enjoyed your speaking skills presentation. Your enthusiasm and energy are contagious! The insights you shared have helped me to understand why some of my speeches faded after an early high. Even more important, I gained additional knowledge and inspiration to raise the bar and give my audiences a top notch, polished, professional presentation."
—Gene Deyoe, Positive Life Changes

"Thanks for making our Speaker University event such a tremendous success. Your talent and energy left everyone in awe. The quality of your coaching is amazing."
—Marsha Petrie Sue, MBA, Speaker and Author

"Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with NSA New Orleans. Every moment of those few hours were electrically charged and extremely beneficial. The three hours sped by and left us all wanting more. An even greater bonus was that it had the impact to bring it home as I learned so much. You are brilliant!"
—Jo Huey

"Your talk was content-rich, and very helpful to someone relatively new at paid speaking such as myself. Also, I found your website to be incredibly useful, especially the articles. Thanks again."
—Nancy Gucwa

"Thank you for your help at your speaking school. Between your ideas on Saturday, the group input, and listening to your tapes, I've learned more about presenting to an audience in the last two weeks than I have in the last forty years."
—Joel Wade

"My team was fortunate enough to attend one of your seminars in Sydney. We were so inspired by everything that we learnt that day our Senior Manager has asked us to put a presentation together for our staff to show them how they can give better presentations at our State conferences. We have given a couple so far and have had great feedback.

"One of the gentlemen I spoke to said that he was so enthused by what I told him he went home that night and wrote his whole speech....he had previously been suffering writers block! Thank you again for a truly inspiring and Life-Changing day!"
—Claire Chapman, E-Commerce Project Manager, Harvey World Travel

"I got so much out of last Saturday's speaking seminar... watching you work transforming speakers was truly awesome. Having worked with you closely for 4 years I am still amazed at the magic you perform.
